Appeal From A Discharge

GRIEVANCE:

Chevrolet—St. Louis—Case D-34

"Was sent home was excused for mother be sick. Request pay for lost time."

Umpire’s Decision:

The grievance is dismissed. (Entire Decision should be read)

In the Matter of:

United Automobile Workers of America—C.I.O.—Local 25

and

General Motors Corporation—Chevrolet—St. Louis—Case D-34

The Umpire finds from the evidence in this case that Complainant G. was absent without reasonable cause from October 5th to October 9th, 1945. In view of his prior record of unjustifiable absenteeism, the Umpire concludes that the possibilities of correcting his conduct by discipline had been exhausted and that his discharge is justified.

Decision:

The grievance is dismissed.

Signed, Ralph T. Seward
